Boxee

Boxee, a computer software company that allows users to put Internet content on their living room televisions, was hacked in March 2014 and 160,000 customer records were compromised. The unknown hacker stole information about customer’s dates of birth, 172,000 email addresses, geographic locations, passwords, Instant Messenger IDs, IP addresses, private messages and usernames.

The breached data was first discovered on a Tor-protected website on March 10th and shortly thereafter, customers were notified of the breach. The only customer accounts stolen were those associated with the Boxee forums and not the regular Boxee service.
